Hello, My name is Lizett Antunez! I am originally from San Diego, California and am so happy I chose to be an Auxilary in the Andalucia area of Spain. Working at Cercadillos has been an unforgettable experience. I chose to stay central and live in Sevilla and because of this, my travel time was about 1 hour. As an American that is used to driving a car everywhere, using public transportation was a bit daunting. However, arriving to the cheerful attitude of the children at Cercadillos made it worth it. Alcala de Guadaira is a cute family town that is not too busy. I had the opportunity to work with younger children from 5 to 8 year olds. I was very impressed with their ability to quickly grasp new concepts. Their enthusiasm to continue learning the English language was inspiring and made the entire teaching experience a great time. When I showed the children things about American culture and ways of celebrating holidays they were very receptive and curious to learn more. This led to conversations that made me realize that although both countries are across the globe, children everywhere are open minded and have an innate relentlessness to learn as much as possible. 

Being a language assistant at this school has expanded my knowledge on teaching in a classroom setting while simultaneously learning the beautiful Spanish culture.

Hola, mi nombre es Lizett Antunez! Soy originaria de San Diego, California y estoy muy feliz de haber elegido ser Auxiliar en el área de Andalucía en España. Trabajar en Cercadillos ha sido una experiencia inolvidable. Elegí quedarme en el centro y vivir en Sevilla y debido a esto, mi tiempo de viaje fue de aproximadamente 1 hora. Como un estadounidense que está acostumbrado a conducir un automóvil a todas partes, usar el transporte público fue un poco desalentador. Sin embargo, llegar a la actitud alegre de los niños de Cercadillos hizo que valiera la pena. Alcalá de Guadaira es un lindo pueblo familiar que no está demasiado ocupado. Tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con niños más pequeños de 5 a 8 años. Me quedé muy impresionado con su capacidad para captar rápidamente nuevos conceptos. Su entusiasmo por continuar aprendiendo el idioma inglés fue inspirador e hizo que toda la experiencia de enseñanza fuera un gran momento. Cuando les mostré a los niños cosas sobre la cultura estadounidense y formas de celebrar las fiestas, se mostraron muy receptivos y curiosos por aprender más. Esto llevó a conversaciones que me hicieron darme cuenta de que, aunque ambos países se encuentran en opuestos lados del mundo, los niños de todas partes tienen una mentalidad abierta y una implacable innata para aprender tanto como sea posible.

Ser asistente de idiomas en esta escuela ha ampliado mi conocimiento sobre la enseñanza en un salón de clases y, al mismo tiempo, aprender la hermosa cultura Española.

MY EXPERIENCE LIKE LANGUAGE ASSISTANT/ AUXILIAR DE CONVERSACIÓN.

Hello! I am Shruti Bang and I was a language and culture assistant from Mumbai, India atCeip Los Cercadillos . I lived in Seville Capital, hence I had to commute from the city centreto Alcalá. It takes about an hour and 15 mins to get there. During my time at cercadillos, Iwas working with primary students – 4th grade to 6th grade. The subjects assigned to mewere science and physical education.The kids at the school have been warm and welcoming. They are always excited to learnsomething new. It’s their enthusiasm that helps the auxiliar to work hard. I’m grateful to theteachers I worked with, who have always encouraged and supported me to share about myculture.This program has helped me enrich my teaching skills by working with different teachers,using different websites, activities, games etc., and being more creative when it comes toteaching. As well as it has helped me improve my Spanish. I have learned more about thecountry, its people and its culture.

Las materias que me asignaron fueron ciencias y educación física.Los niños de la escuela han sido cálidos y acogedores. Siempre están emocionados de aprender algo nuevo. Es su entusiasmo lo que ayuda al auxiliar a trabajar duro. Y estoy agradecido con los maestros con los que trabajé, quienes siempre me alentaron y apoyaron para compartir sobre mi cultura.Este programa me ha ayudado a enriquecer mis habilidades de enseñanza al trabajar con diferentes maestros, usar diferentes sitios web, actividades, juegos, etc., ser más creativo cuando se trata de enseñar. Además me ha ayudado a mejorar mi español y he aprendido más sobre el país, su gente y su cultura.
